The Working Group on Capacity Building and Data Democracy of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS WGCapD) hosted a webinar tilted “Opening The Aperture On Earth Science: How Open Science Initiatives Are Transforming Earth Science” on Thursday, 30 May, 2024. During the webinar Chris Barnes (USGS), Sydney Neugebauer (NASA), Yasha Moz (NASA), and Derek Hanson (NOAA) shared resources, benefits, and opportunities regarding a recently launched U.S. federal government initiative titled “Transform to Open Science (TOPS)” that supports an inclusive culture of Open Science.

Presentation slides with links to additional resources are available HERE, the recording is available HERE.

The speakers highlighted how their agencies are committed to enabling new scientific discoveries through increased understanding and adoption of Open Science principles and techniques. This webinar is a great opportunity to learn how the TOPS initiative will allow us to inspire an international scientific culture that is ready for 21st century Earth science challenges.
