This was a two-day GIS and Remote Sensing workshop offered to the geography teachers at the Greater Taung Education Sub-District in the North Western Province of South Africa.

 

Training Objectives & Expected Outcomes:

  • Objectives:
    • To expose geography teachers to extended theoretical and practical learning of GIS and Remote sensing.
    • To align the workshop to the grade 12 geography curriculum.
    • To expose educators to GIS and remote sensing software
  • Expected Outcomes:
    • The educators to know how to interact with GIS and remote sensing software
    • The educators will know where to source open-source satellite data and products
    • The educator will clearly understand and distinguish between GIS and Remote Sensing.
