From the 30th of May to the 2nd of June 2023 the IMW Australia team will teach attendees how to use the best digital and geospatial tools to collect, host, visualise, share and publish maps that can be used to demonstrate connection to land and waters and manage associated digital information. Following an invitation of the IMW 2023 organizers, joint offerings by NASA and CSA include preparation and delivery of introductory sessions on optical & radar Earth Observation (EO), on flood & drought-related EO applications, and an EO yarning circle session with participants. These sessions combine lecturing, hands-on exercises, two-way learning and dialogue as a core session activities. The workshop will provide space for First Nations people to learn, yarn, create connections and share knowledge on ways in which to continue caring for Country and safeguarding traditional knowledge and culture. The IMW 2023 is for Indigenous Australians, or people working directly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities or organisations in Australia such as Indigenous Ranger Groups, Native Title and Aboriginal Heritage Groups and Arts, Language and Cultural Centres.
