Upgrade the ECV Inventory technically that it can provide information on Level 1 base data records (FCDRs) used for CDRs of GCOS ECVs. Provide to CEOS agencies documentation on CDR related nomenclature and meta data standards.
WGClimate meetings #10 and #11 have discussed the definitions of Fundamental Climate Data Record (FCDR), (Thematic) Climate Data Record ((T)CDR), and Interim Climate Data Record (ICDR) which are prerequisites to fulfil this action. It is planned to convert the agreed definitions into a peer reviewed publication to have a reference and maximum impact on the community. The creation of a L1 data inventory will use the FDCR definition to baseline its content. The work will be carried out when the definitions are stable. A delay is not foreseeable at this moment.
