Joint training course for BSc and MSc level students to teach EO theory and practicals. This years version is on geohazards and land training, and will take place in Chania, Greece in conjunction with SCERIN/MEDRIN
ESA/NASA Trans-Atlantic Training 11 took place from 14 July to 17 July 2024 at Chania University in Chania, Greece in conjunction with the annual meetings of SCERIN and MEDRIN, informal regional information networks for scientists working with Earth Observation in South Eastern and Central Europe, and the Mediterranean, respectively. The topic of TAT-11 was “Earth Observation and Machine Learning for Disaster Mapping”. Technologies and data from Copernicus, ESA, and NASA missions were be presented in tutorial lectures and practical hands-on training sessions. Lectures and training activities focused on SAR and optical passive satellite data for the mapping and monitoring of natural disasters including earthquakes and forest fires, and the use of free and accessible cloud computing, machine learning, and Artificial Intelligence methods for analysing Earth Observation data.
