Pilot project to explore the improvements to flood risk monitoring;prediction;early warning and forecasting and recoery using. Integrating data from geosynchronus;low earth orbit and radar satellites. Pilot focuses on data integration with satellite and related in situ or other airborne data for verification and modeling. Partnerships are developed to gather feedback on challenges and lessons for integrating data and identifying areas for pilot assessment and future demonstration of value. Report captures effective practices including data access and utility;analysis tools and methods;user needs and gaps;capacity building and resileince development needs. Include consideration for access to higher resolution digital elevation data;models and maps for water depth;water management and drought as appropriate;flash flooding;riverine and urban flooding considerations as appropriate pilot sites.
The Flood Pilot Team has successfully organized into the following Subgroups, based on member agency interest and ability to contribute: Red River of the North (NRCan), Bermejo and Picomayo Basins (CONAE), Brahmaputra River and Mahanadi Delta (ISRO), Pearl River Basin (CAS), Evros Basin (Harokopio University of Athens, National Observatory Athens), Myanmar (LIST). The unifying component of the Pilot is the use of the CEOS Earth Analytics Interoperabilty Lab (EAIL). In partnership with CEOS WGISS and SEO, EAIL accounts have been distributed to all interested Pilot members. Subgroup AOIs have been established in EAIL, with relevant diverse GEO, LEO and SAR data sources loaded into the EAIL environment.
