Hold an open-invitation workshop to discuss and promote best practices on pre-flight and onboard calibration of sensors;initially focusing on optical.
Joint GSICS/WGCV organisation committee has resumed. The workshop will be held at ESA-ESTEC, Noordwijk, the Netherlands from 19-22 November 2024. Save the date and registration announcement has been sent. Registration for the workshop is now open. More information will be made available at: https://ceos.org/meetings/workshop-on-optical-space-sensor-pre-flight-calibration-and-characterisation/. CEOS-GSICS report will be published as an outcome of the workshop within a year to share best practices, ideas, etc. with the community regarding pre-flight characterisation and cal/val.
Although progress on this workshop has been delayed, in part due to preperation and generation of an appropriate invitiation letter, the community desire remains very strong. Following discussions at the last WGCV a telecon with the organisation group is proposed for the next few weeks with a view to a workshop targeted at QQ2/Q3 2020. It is considered that noting the initiatives on GHG sensors and the increases in their developments that a key aspect of this workshop should be to include the highly demanding requirements for pre-flight calibration and characterisation of these sensors. A new deadline for the workshop to be held jointly with GSICS is proposed to be Q3 2020.
The joint WGCV/GSICS Organisation Committee has been recontacted to resume the organisation of the workshop that is planned for Q4 2023 or Q1 2024
