CEOS will support and coordinate activities for the 3 rd Blue Planet Symposium, which comes at an important time in the early stages of the second decade of GEO.

The 3rd Blue Planet Symposium was held in College Park, Maryland, USA from 31 May to 2 June 2017. The symposium was supported and attended by representatives from several CEOS entities including NOAA, NASA, CSIRO, USGS and ESA. CEOS related presentations were given during the symposium including a presentation on the Open Data Cube and Coastal Applications by Jonathan Ross and a presentation on COVERAGE by Eric Lindstrom.
CEOS participated successfully in the Blue Planet Symposium, through the CEOS Chair Team, incoming CEOS Chair, CSIRO Contact, and DCEO. CEOS gave a presentation, participated in the steering committee meetings, chaired a session on use of space observations for ocean climate variables, and helped (with GEOSEC) Blue Planet discuss how it may positiion itself for the next decade of GEO.
