Building on the initial release of the ECV inventory and progress to date, the reference process for the gap analysis will be finalized (including guidelines for ECV assessments), and the necessary tools to support the implementation of this process developed. The gap analysis activities will commence once the reference process for the gap analysis and supporting tools are available.
Full methodology for gap analysis has been developed and has been applied to a select set of ECV records. This effort has been led by Pascal Lecomte and Ed Pecharro with help from other WGClimate members. ?The defined gap process is extensive and thorough. The challenge is that working through the process is quite labor intensive and so WGClimate is considering how it might be possible to distribute the work load to expand the process to additional ECVs.
